| Big River #1 is inspired by Southern Pacific #16 on the Carson and Colorado, which ran in eastern California's Owens valley. The model is an extensively modified Bachmann Big Hauler. It it powered by a coreless motor, driving a Northwest Shortline worm drive. Power is provided by a Makita 9.6 volt battery inserted through the boiler front. The speed controller is by Remote Control Systems, and the radio link is Futaba. A chuff sound, synchronized to the axle, is produced by modified Bachmann electronics. All the electronics are in the tender. |
